Cardenas, branch president, officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born May 9, 1936 in Graham to Ibra "Preston" Carter and Anna "Ann" Darcus Tarter, he died January 15 in Sulphur. He grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School in 1954. After graduation, he moved to Norman while attending the University of Oklahoma. He married Patsy Russell on August 27, 1955. He earned a BS Degree in Petroleum Geology and a Masters in Environmental Science. He worked as a cartographer in St. Louis, Mo. after graduation. He returned to Norman after living in several Oklahoma locations. A self employed petroleum geologist and independent oil and gas producer, his work was his passion. He moved to Davis in 1980 where he remained until his death. Surviving are three sons, Steven Keith Carter, Bentonville, Ark., David Kendall Carter and Phillip Kristopher Carter, both of Davis; one daughter, Brenda Kristen (Carter) Byrd, Ada; two brothers, Billy Ray Carter, Tulsa and Kenneth Wayne Carter, Davis and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
