All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Crossland, Yolonda Agustah Phillips Yolonda Agustah Phillips Crossland, age 83, died of natural causes on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Boise, Idaho. Yolonda was born on Sept. 4, 1924, in Maud, Okla., to Rathmel Phillips and Agustah Walker. She grew up in Norman and Tulsa, Okla., and graduated from Monte Casino High School in 1942. After attending a semester at the University of Arizona, she returned to Tulsa and married Charles L. McMahon, Jr. They had four children, Charles Lucien, William Daniel (Danny), Yolonda Agustah (Jessica) and Sarah Lucien (Tobi). They later divorced. Yolonda returned to college and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a minor in Art History. While attending OU, her brother Bill Phillips, introduced her to a friend of his, Samuel Hess Crossland, who had returned from the Korean War and was attending OU Law School. They 20 Feb 2011d, fell in love and married on Sept. 18, 1958, in Miami, Fla. Yolonda and Sam made their home in Oklahoma City where Sam was legal counsel to the Governor of Oklahoma, J. Howard Edmondson. Their daughter Julia Allison was born while they lived there. In 1962, the Crosslands moved to Washington, D.C., where Sam practiced law and studied Government Contracts at night at George Washington University Law School. Sam later became legal counsel for Morrison Knudsen Company, Inc. and the family moved to Grand Forks, N. D., Great Falls, Mont., and eventually to Boise in 1966. Yolonda loved Boise and made many dear friends here. She was active in the community and served on the Board of Directors of the Boise Art Museum. Art and interior design were her passions. She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Coleta Phillips, her stepfather Lewis Chatham, her brother Bill and her son Danny. She is survived by her husband Sam, her children Charles, Jessica, Tobi and Julia, daughter-in-law Joni McMahon and son-in-law Bill Ward, grandchildren Tiffany Gordon, Kimberly LeBlanc, Danny McMahon, Jesse Sims, Mark McMahon, Meredith Means and Walker Ward, and nine great-grandchildren. We would like to thank the staff of Assisting Angels Home Care for their care of Yolonda over the summer, and the staff of Plantation Place, Inc. for the care and kindness they showed Yolonda for the short time she was there. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Plantation Place, 3921 Kessinger Lane, on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., and a reception later that day at Hillcrest Country Club, 4610 Hillcrest Drive, from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the Boise Art Museum. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
