"Jay" Alvin J. "Jay" Dalton Sr., 89, a retired aerospace engineer, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Retta Baptist Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Retta Baptist Church building fund; or Huguley Hospice. Alvin J. "Jay" Dalton was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Norman, Okla. He married Beulah King June 10, 1937. Jay owned and operated a gas station in Norman and later moved to Portland, Ore., where he worked for Reynolds Aluminum, building and testing submarines during World War II. Upon returning to Texas in 1950, Jay went to work for TEMCO (later LTV), retiring from LTV in 1977. Jay was an avid gardener. He was a member of Retta Baptist Church. He was a master Mason and life member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F.& A.M. Burleson Lodge 649. He loved spending time with family and playing countless games of dominoes with family and friends. He was exceedingly proud of the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jay will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his compassion and generosity. Survivors: Wife, Beulah of Rendon; children, Dr. Alvin J. Dalton Jr. and wife, Sheryl of Bedford, John Dalton and fiancee, Melinda of Royse City, Irene Escamilla and husband, Manuel of Rendon and Robert Dalton and wife, Lee of Fort Worth; brother, R.O. Dalton and wife, Bernice of Rendon; seven grandchildren; 14 (soon to be 17) great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
