Emma Ruth Echols

PLAINVIEW - Emma Ruth Echols, 92, of Clovis, N.M., a former Plainview
resident, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Plainview Cemetery with Brad
Huckbee, associate pastor at Harvest Christian Church, officiating.
Arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Echols was born in Lexington, Okla., and moved to the Post area at an
early age. She attended Wayland Baptist University and received an LVN
certificate from the old Plainview Hospital in 1948.

She worked in the polio ward at Plainview Hospital. She retired in 1973
and did private home nursing for many years.

She married Robert Charles Echols in 1926. He died in 1943. She also was
preceded in death by a son, Vernon Echols, in 1949.

Mrs. Echols was a member of First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern
Star and the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Virgil Echols of Clovis, N.M., and Corrol
Echols of Oxnard, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren.
