Floyd Robert Kendall Floyd, 82, died Thursday April 28, 2005 at home in Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Floyd was born December 8, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan and attended school in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He logged over 3000 miles as a transport pilot in World War II, flying in the China-Burma-India Theater and held a commercial pilot’s license, an instructor’s rating and an instrument rating. After the war Mr. Floyd was active in farming and ranching. He married Marion Joanna Flues on January 21, 1955, in Birmingham, MI. He spent over a decade in the advertising business in the Detroit area before moving to Oklahoma where he owned a quarter horse ranch. Mr. Floyd was a life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, having won many competitive shooting events. His interests included exercise, nutrition, and hunting and loved the opera. Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Joanna; two daughters, Sara Floyd Baber, of Houston, TX, and Catherine Sharp and husband, Gary, of Edmond; two sons, John and wife, Elizabeth, of Topeka, KS, and Bryan, of the home; and four grandchildren, Melissa McGuire, Skye Baber, Kelsey Baber, and Micah Floyd. All friends are encouraged to join the family at an open house and meal at the home, 1218 Greenbriar Court in Norman on Sunday, May 1st from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
