Services are pending with Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. ========= Norman Transcript 04 Sep 2003 Paul Friesen Paul Friesen, 86, of Norman died Monday, Sept. 1, in Norman. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman with the Rev. Cal Brannon officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Canute Cemetery in Canute with military honors. Havenbrook Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Friesen was born May 22, 1917, near Weatherford, to Peter and Katherine Friesen. He graduated from Weatherford High School. He served in the Navy during World War II before attending college in Okmulgee. He was a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base for many years. He retired in 1965. After he retired, he purchased a car wash on Lindsey Street and ran it from 1965-80. He married Ruth Cotter in August 1947, and they had two sons, Gary and Shawn. They lived in Norman and were members of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. They have been avid University of Oklahoma football fans and have attended all home games for over 30 years. During the offseason, Mr. and Mrs. Friesen enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States. Mr. Friesen enjoyed his home, always working on the landscape and garden as long as health would permit. Mr. Friesen was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Katherine Friesen; five brothers; and three sisters. Mr. Friesen is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home; sons, Gary Friesen and wife, Karen, and Shawn Friesen, all of Norman; grandsons, Toby, Lance and Tory Friesen, all of Norman; sister, Florence Anglin of Texas; three nieces; two nephews; and many other family members and friends. Bearers will be Lowell V., LeRoy and Chris Cunningham and Toby, Tory and Lance Friesen.
