Services are pending with Mayes Funeral Directors in Norman. ========= Norman Transcript October 17, 200 Lena Beth Frazier Frazier Lena Beth Frazier died Wednesday, Oct. 15, after a long illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. Mayes Funeral Directors in Norman is handling arrangements. Mrs. Frazier was born Nov. 11, 1944, in Ardmore, to Elizabeth and Hardy Murphy. She received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Oklahoma. She began a career as sculptor and teacher in 1966. She sculpted bronze busts and life-size likeness honoring important figures with Oklahoma roots including former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Ambassador to England Adm. William J. Crowe, Sylvin N. Gooldman and Justice Denver Davidson. Her family said the busts she completed of several generations of children in Oklahoma were important to her. Her work can be found in museums, public buildings, private collections and homes across the United States. She spent many years in the Tulsa, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and Norman school systems. She conducted over 20 years of workshops and private lessons in her Norman studio. Her booth at the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts for 21 years became the traditional meeting place for the families of her friends and collectors. She provided instruction at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Norman Firehouse Art Center and in the Oklahoma prison system. She was the first president of the Oklahoma Sculpture Society and was on the boards of many arts organizations, including the State Arts Council of Oklahoma. Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Frazier is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth and husband, Dr. Scott White, Glenpool; sister, Polly Murphy and husband, Tim Pierson, and their children, Timothy and Bergen Pierson, all of Ardmore; brothers, John Charles Murphy of Ardmore and Thomas Hardy Murphy of Phoenix; father, Mike Frazier; special friend, Bill Dewey; cat, Mister; and many other family members and friends.
