Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Born February 2, 1927 in Silverton, Texas to Alfred Hughes and Gladys Biggerstaff Hughes, she died Monday, Oct. 10 in Norman. She married Raymond E. Franklin on December 16, 1946 in Abernathy, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2003. She grew up in west Texas and graduated from Brownfield High School and attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. The couple lived in Texas before moving to Norman in 2002. She was a Census Bureau employee and member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas. Surviving are two daughters, Ellen Cooper, Oklahoma City and Reaona Senkel and her husband, Jim, Jasper, Texas; two sons and their wives, Dr. Elbert and Kathy Franklin, Sulphur and Ben and Judy Franklin, Van Alstyne, Texas; a brother and his wife, Willie and Katie Hughes, Brownwood, Texas; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Martha Franklin and a sister, Reaona Hughes. Pallbearers were Kris Ellis, Bill Yates, Boyd Fant, Josh Prock, Michael Cooper, Daniel Fant, Marcus Crawford and Brian Cooper. Honorary bearers were Devon Cooper, Stephanie Franklin, Misty Ellis, Sandy Fant, Kristin Crawford, Lori Yates, Rebecca Franklin and Angie Prock.
