Services will be Saturday at El Santo Nino Catholic Church in Las Gallinas Village, N.M. Burial will follow at El Santo Nino Cemetery in Las Gallinas Village. A reception will follow at the El Santo Nino Catholic Church grounds. Mr. Giffert was born in Centralia, Ill., and grew up in Norman. He voluntarily served in Vietnam. He lived the past 30 years in Las Gallinas Canyon where he was a non-commissioned village marshal. His family said he was a "20th century man living in the 21st century." Mr. Giffert was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Giffert; father, Franklin Giffert; and brother, Van Wye Giffert. Mr. Giffert is survived by his daughters, Ericka Giffert Encinias and husband, Daniel, and Jayme Kaye Kriegal and husband, Andy; grandchildren, Sarah Leonor and Daniel Michael Encinias; step-children, Sheryl, Gary and Bryan Smith; wife, Judy Hart; sister, Gail Edwards and husband, Steve; nieces, Kimberly Edwards and Stephanie Giffert; nephews, Russell Edwards and wife, Kimmie, and Christopher Giffert; sister-in-law, Mary Giffert; and many other friends.
