All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::IOOF Cemetery--Norman OK Greenshields, Theodore Karl Theodore Karl Greenshields, age 62, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in Norman, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, at the John Ireland Funeral Chapel in Moore. Karl will be laid to rest at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma alongside his beloved parents, Theodore Dorman Greenshields and Altha Mae Greenshields, who preceded him in death. Karl was born July 11, 1940 in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated from High School in Norman and continued his education at Oklahoma City University, where he received a Bachelors of Music Education and the University of Colorado at Boulder where he received his Masters in Music. Karl taught advanced violin and viola nationwide and conducted numerous orchestras over the years. He was a concertmaster and violin soloist with many famous orchestras including the Bob Hope Special, Boulder Philharmonic, the Air Force Academy Band, and the Tulsa Philharmonic. He studied violin under many famous conductors and played in New York, San Francisco, Colorado and many other places. He was the music director for the Kentucky Youth Orchestra and was instrumental in founding several youth orchestras, including The Oklahoma City Summer Youth Symphony, The Oklahoma City Chamber Orchestra, The Oklahoma City String Symphonette, and The South Bend Youth Chamber Orchestra. He achieved numerous other accolades in his musical endeavors and was renown in the classical music field. Karl was a disabled veteran who served honorably in the United States Air Force. He eventually returned to reside in Norman to assist his parents with their business and health needs. He is survived by a nephew, Maurice Dunsworth a cousin, Gary Greenshields, and many friends whom he considered his family.
