Norman Transcript October 2, 2003 Jean Hayes Jean Hayes, 80, died Monday, Sept. 29, in Norman. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Norman. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Resthaven Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mrs. Hayes was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Beggs, to Leonard and Mattie (Smith) Pense. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, fishing and crocheting. Her favorite hobby was traveling with her family in their RV to almost all 50 states and abroad. One of her most memorable trips was to San Juan and the Virgin Islands. She was an active member of Norman First Church of the Nazarene. The love of Jean’s life were her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Hill; second husband, Lloyd T. Hayes; brother, Wallace Pense; and sisters, Ruby Hemple and Allene Fox. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her son, Rodney Hayes and wife, Marlene, of Oklahoma City; daughters, Donna Hill of Norman, Joanna Johnson and husband, Robert, of Vestal, N.Y., and Elizabeth Hayes of Oklahoma City; brothers, Leonard Douglas Pense and wife, Clauda, of Strafford, Mo., and Howard Pense and wife, Dorothy, of Seadrift, Texas; grandchildren, Jean Marie Hill, Kathy Flentge and husband, Keith, Jim Johnson, and Lloyd and Rudy Lee; and many nieces and nephews.
