All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian George R Higbee Services: Thurs., May 23, 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Shafter Church of Christ for George R. Higbee, 85, who died Monday, May 20th in a Bakersfield Hospital. Mr. Steve Mann will officiate and burial will be in the Shafter Cemetery. Mr. Higbee was born in Corbett, Oklahoma in 1916 and settled in Shafter, California in 1940. He and his wife, Claudine, later settled in the Rosedale area and were married for 57 years at her death in 1994. George worked for 53 years for Clyde and Donald Zachary as a ranch foreman in the Shafter area. He was a member and elder of the Shafter Church of Christ for many years. George loved sports of all kinds and was never happier than when he could watch his sons and grandsons play. George is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Linda Higbee of Bakersfield, and Dan and Brenda Higbee of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandsons, Jason Higbee and his wife, Melissa, Jeff Higbee, Brian Higbee and Sean Higbee; and one sister, Beth Bishop of Bakersfield. George was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Hattie Higbee; 8 sisters, Grace, Doris, Wilene, Anna Merle, Aileen, Hope, Carie Lou, Dixie, and one brother, Howard. Pallbearers will be Jason Higbee, Jeff Higbee, Brian Higbee, Bill Higbee, Leon Hill and Danny Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Higbee, Wendell Tate and Buck Bishop.
