WORTH T.J. Johnson, “Eighty-Niner” succumbs in Texas NORMAN, Dec 20 - T.J. Johnson,"Eighty-Niner" and the second postmaster of Norman, died Monday night at Fort Worth, Texas. According to word received in Norman from T.G. Johnson, his son. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Ft. Worth. Captain Johnson was known by all the "old-timers" of Norman and many of those who came here in recent years. When he came here the year of the opening, he obtained a farm northeast of town. To the west was the home of E.B. Johnson and to the south that of Henry Johnson, from which the vicinity there became known as Johnson’s Corner. In 1892 Johnson was appointed postmaster by President Grover Cleveland and served four years. Captain Johnson was past 80 years old when he died.
