Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Davlyn Duesterhaus, chaplain at BSA, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born March 17, 1915, in Central City, Neb. She married her childhood sweetheart, Elton L. Johnson, on May 5, 1937, in Chicago and they had two children, Elton L. Johnson Jr. of Tahlequah, Okla., and Sandra Waller of Amarillo. They raised their children in Norman, Okla., and Austin. She was a woman of many roles during her 88 years of life. She was a daughter to Ethel and Lee Coolidge, a sister to Jessica, and a wife to Elton L. Johnson, all who have preceded her in death. She was the beloved mother to Elton Jr. and Sandra, and the honored mother-in-law to Mary Lou and Jack. She was MeMa to Lori, Keith, Terri, Darren and many of their friends. To Kyle, Tonya, Amy, Leigh and Ryan and their friends, she was grandmother. The greatest name she answered to, however, was GiGi, short for great-grandmother, to her seven great-grandchildren. She was a woman of many roles. She was a skilled secretary and was a gifted vocalist. She was active in many community organizations as she was raising her children. Her main role was mother and homemaker. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1983. Lois faced many challenges in her life, including this journey, with great strength and courage, thanks to the grace of God. She has gone home and will be sorely missed by all. Survivors include her son, Elton L. Johnson Jr. and wife, Mary Lou; her daughter, Sandra Waller and husband, Jack; four grandchildren, Kyle Johnson and wife, Tanya, of Portland, Ore., Amy Leigh Johnson of Ypsilanti, Mich., Lori Lee Underwood and husband, Keith, of Evergreen, Colo., and Terri Gottschalk and husband, Darren, of Tucson, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Ryan, Ashton and Hayden, all of Evergreen, Colo., and Jordan, Makena and Sheldan, all of Tucson; and a nephew, Mike Hickey and wife, Carolyn, of Denver.
