Lynn Dies On Tuesday On Tuesday morning word was received in Purcell of the death of Mr. Charles R. Lynn in Oklahoma City at the home of his son E.C. Lynn there. The body was brought to Purcell Tuesday morning and was taken in charge by B.H. Rackley who prepared it for burial. Services were held Wednesday morning at the home of Mr. Irvin Lynn on West Washington street and were conducted by Rev. Father Van Gastel followed by interment at the Hillside cemetery. Mr. Lynn was an old time resident of Purcell coming here some thirty-two years ago and had made Purcell his home continually since that time with the exception of a few years spent in Oklahoma City in the employ of the Santa Fe railway. He has been in the employ of the railway practically all of the time since coming to Purcell. Mr. Lynn was born June 15, 1848 in Montgomery county, Tennessee, near Clarksville. He was 79 years, 10 months and nine days old at the time of his death. Thirty-two years ago he moved to Purcell with his wife and children to make this their home. His wife died fifteen years ago in Purcell and was buried in Hillside cemetery here. For the past four years Mr. Lynn has been unable to work and for the past three months had been bedfast suffering with cancer. He was well known to all Purcell people and was familiarly known as Daddy Lynn. He was the organizer and a charter member of the A.O.U.W. lodge in Purcell and one of its most enthusiastic members for many years. He leaves three sons to mourn his loss besides a number of grandchildren and other relatives. The children are E.C. Lynn of Oklahoma City, Irvin Lynn of Purcell and L.D. Lynn of San Bernardino, California. The latter was unable to come to attend the funeral services on account of the great distance. The Register together with the many other friends extends its sympathy to the bereaved relatives. I do have the 1920 census for Irvin and 1930 for Edward C LYNN but nothing before this for either of them. I have found all the census for the other son Lucas LYNN. They all worked for the railroads. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Cleveland County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/cleveland/cleveland.html
