McBee NORMAN - Funeral for former Frederick resident Mari V. McBee, 86, Norman, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Frederick First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Graves officiating. Mrs. McBee died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at a Norman care center. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Jackson Funeral Home. She was born May 1, 1916, in Pueblo, Colo., to John and Sophie Venovich. She grew up in the Pueblo and Denver area. After graduating from high school, she received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Colorado State University in 1939. She did graduate work in Chicago, and completed her internship at Michael Reese Hospital in 1941. She became a certified dietician and worked in the Army Medical Corps at Camp Walters, Mineral Wells, Texas. She earned her officer's commission in 1941. She married Howard Montgomery McBee in December 1943 at Fort Bragg, N.C. He died Jan. 5, 2002. She was discharged in 1944 with the rank of captain. They moved to Frederick in 1947, and she taught vocational home economics at Frederick High School from 1949 until 1963. After she retired from teaching she worked as head dietician for Tillman County Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. In June 2000, they moved to Norman. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Jerry Alfieri, land, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Esther McBee, Bella Vista, Ark.; and William and Joyce McBee, Norman; a sister, Mildred Rockley, Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren: Carrie Jackson and her husband, Travis, McKinney, Texas; Valieri Alfieri, and Crystal Dunlap, both of Norman; Lindsay Alfieri, College Station, Texas; Rebecca McBee, Wellesley, Mass.; and Sandra McBee, Mount Holyoke, Mass.; and a great- grandson, Keaton Scott Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Dan and Nick Venovich; and a sister, Ann Logar.
