McBee NORMAN — Funeral for former Frederick resident Mari V. McBee, 86, Norman, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Frederick First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Graves officiating. Mrs. McBee died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at a Norman care center. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Jackson Funeral Home. She was born May 1, 1916, in Pueblo, Colo., to John and Sophie Vinovich. She grew up in the Pueblo area. After graduating from high school, she received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Colorado State University in 1939. She did graduate work in Chicago, and became a certified dietician. She then worked in the Army Medical Corps in 1940 at Camp Walters, Mineral Wells, Texas. She earned her officer's commission in 1941. She married Howard M. McBee in 1943. She was discharged in 1944 with the rank of second lieutenant. They moved to Frederick in 1947, and she taught home economics at Frederick High School until 1967. After she retired from teaching she worked as an accredited dietician for Tillman County Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. In June 2000, they moved to Norman. Survivors include a daughter, Maria Alfieri, Garland, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Esther McBee, Plano, Texas; and William and Joyce McBee, Norman; six grandchildren: Carrie Jackson, Valieri and Lindsay Alfieri, Rebecca and Sandra McBee and Crystal Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; Dan and Nick Vinovich; and a sister, Ann Logar. ========= Lawton Constitution 17 Apr 2003 Mari V.
