Matthews, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Armstrong Chapel in Claude with the Rev. Synott M. Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Norman, Okla. Mrs. Matthews lived in Amarillo for 44 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Caprock Baptist Church. Her husband, Synott Matthews, died in 1969. Her daughter, Willa Dean Love, died in 1997. Her daughter, Donna Lee Matthews, died in 1950. Survivors include a daughter, Delores Wilson of Washburn; two sons, the Rev. Synott M. Matthews of Mangum, Okla., and Dr. Marvin Ray Matthews of Papya, New Guinea; two sisters, Jean Hooper and Mava Faulkner, both of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Bob Yoachum of Prague, Okla., Herbert Yoachum of Tucson, Ariz., and George Yoachum of Norman, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. The family will be at the home of Gary and Delores Wilson in Washburn. They suggest memorials be to a favorite charity.
