Mr. Melton was the founder of the Indian Hill Inn also known as the Indian Hill Steak House. He was also the owner and operator of the Moore Restaurant Equipment. He also had served in the United States Army in the 999th AFA Battalion. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by 5 children, 1 daughter, Shirlene Morgan of Ft. Worth, TX; 4 sons, John Ferns Melton II of Reno, NV; John Hugh Melton, Jr. of Marshall, TX; Phillip Ferns Melton of Ft. Worth, TX; John Patrick Melton of Farmers Branch, TX; 1 sister, Penny Robertson of Palm Desert, CA; lifetime friends Willie Nelson and Paul English; 6 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Melton. Services will be held at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel Saturday, April 26, 2003, at 11:00 AM. with reverend Harvey Spear officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, OK. Family will be receiving guests from 6-8:00 PM Friday April 25, 2003.
