Price, Sr. Paris M. Price, Sr., of Norman, passed away on August 13, 2005, at South Park East Care Center after a lengthy illness. Paris was born at Chigley, Okla., August 27, 1910 to C. L. and Betty Dee Price. He was the seventh of nine children. Paris moved with his family to Davis when he was nine years old where his family started a broom factory. He and his family all worked in the factory, which they operated until the beginning of World War II. Paris attended school in Davis and graduated from high school in 1931. He liked sports, and was active in basketball and football. Their team won the Red River championship in 1929. The team was named the Davis Wolves, for their coach, Mr. Key Wolf. Paris became a Christian at an early age and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Davis and of Moore. After moving back to the Davis- Sulphur area, he and his wife, Lura, became members of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur and in recent years they have been members of the The International Church of Norman. Paris was united in marriage to Lura B. Hodges of Iron City, Tenn., in Iuka, Miss., on March 5, 1950. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1977 and in 1980 he and his wife moved to Davis and lived for 21 years until his health began to fail. They moved to Norman to be near his son, Brad Price and wife, Suzie, and grandsons, Matthew and Nathan. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, gardening, and taking his family on camping trips to New Mexico and Colorado. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Davis and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite of the Oklahoma Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the historical society of Davis, and a member of the Artists of the Arbuckles in Sulphur. He was an award winning artist and spent many hours painting. Paris was preceded in death by a son, Gerald D. Price (Jerry); his parents and three brothers and three sisters, Clarence, Clitus, Irvin Price, Mae Montgomery, Maud Abson and Mary Robb. He is survived by his wife, Lura; three children, a daughter, Ramona Alexander and husband, Larry, San Diego, Calif; two sons, Paris M. Price Jr. of Galveston, Texas and Brad Price and wife, Suzie, of Norman; ten grandchildren, Ramona Lynn Mead, Marjorie Williams, Suzanne Wolfinberger, Larry Alexander Jr., Michael Alexander, Donnie Price, Tahirah Price, Eric Price, Matthew Price and Nathan Price; 15 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Dalley, of Arlington, Texas; Drusilla Johnston and husband, Fred, Davis and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held in the First Baptist Church, Sulphur, on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. and Paris was laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Hale-Fox Funeral Home of Davis. Pallbearers were Matthew Price, Nathan Price, Tiny Day, Howard Boatman, Neal Mayo and Floyd Shipman.
