All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ORA REESER Published on May 14, 1996 The Santa Rosa Press Democratt Ora Reeser, who joined the westward movement of Oklahoma families and farmers to California during the Great Depression, died Friday at a Santa Rosa convalescent hospital. She was 89. Born near Norman, Okla., she became legally blind while sick with measles. When she first arrived in California, she picked cotton in Tulare. She married in 1938. She picked prunes and apples after moving to Santa Rosa 60 years ago. Reeser became a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and having her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews visit. "Her door was always open," said her daughter, Gloria Machado of Santa Rosa. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her sons, James Reeser of La Pine, Ore., and Gerald Reeser of Yosemite; brother, Oscar Miller of Lakeport; 11 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Family Bible Church in Santa Rosa. Burial will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
