All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 19 Jan 2003 Reed, Carol Johnson NORMAN — Carol Johnson Reed, 84, a former longtime Duncan resident, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 in Norman. Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. She was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Stephens County to Stillman S. Johnson and Valene Wassom Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Amos M. Reed on Aug. 8, 1936, in Lawton. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1993. Mrs. Reed was a librarian in the engineering department at Halliburton for 24 years. She retired in 1976. She was a homemaker and an avid quilter at the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed walking and was very active in her church and women’s groups. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Mary Reed of Denver and Don and Ann Reed of Norman; one brother, Hobby Johnson of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Jeane Pruitt of Tifton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Shawn and Lori Reed, Erin Reed Leeper and Jeff, Tina Reed Cotton and Chris, and Teri Reed Rhoads and Mike; and six great- grandchildren. Bearers will be Shawn Reed, Jeff Leeper, Mike Rhoads, Chris Cotton. Honorary bearers are Bob Diggs Brown, Leroy Ramsey, Virgil Parks, Carl Slifer, Lila McFarland, Wanda Cottrell, Pauline Jennings, Cleonna Armstrong, Eleanor Vanlandingham.
