Slade Charles Joseph Slade, 79, of Wheatland died Dec. 22, 2001, at his residence. Born in Yorkville, N.Y., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 41 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force at Beale Air Force Base in 1963 having served in the European Theatre during World War II, the Berlin airlift and the Korean War. He also retired from the Postal Service in Marysville in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Marysville Elks Lodge 783, Wheatland American Legion Post 789 and Sons in Retirement Twin River Branch 109. He was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and co- founder of the Sacramento Valley Boxer Club, breeding and exhibiting boxers at dog shows. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothie Slade of Wheatland; a son, Philip Slade of Yuba City; three daughters, Sandra Suetta of Sacramento, Charla Isaacs of Napa and Kathy Hoffman of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Bette Quinn of Newark, N.Y., and Carol Gillette of New Hartford, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Adella Lynn Craig, and a grandson. Contributions may be made to the Marysville Elks Lodge No. 783 Building Fund. Services: At his request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be at the National Cemetery in Gustine.
