Snider Dr. Glenn R. Snider, a resident of Norman since 1954, died Feb. 12 in Norman. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mayes Funeral Directors Chapel. Dr. Snider was born in Independence, Mo., on Oct. 6, 1909, and served for 15 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools in Petis County, Missouri. He held three bachelor's degrees from Central Missouri State University, an M.A. degree in history from the University of Michigan and doctorate in school administration from the University of Wyoming. He served five years as director of teacher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State College at Weatherford and in the same capacity from 1956 until 1961 at the University of Oklahoma. He was appointed a Regents Professor in 1971 and retired from the University of Oklahoma in 1980 after teaching classes in secondary school administration, curriculum and leadership. In 1961, he helped establish the Human Relations Center at OU with privately donated funds and worked tirelessly in the state and nation for 20 years in this field. He was active in many educational organizations including the OEA, Phi Delta Kappa, the NEA, the AAUP, the ACLU and the state and national associations of Secondary School Principals. While very active in public service and professional activities for OU, he wrote extensively in professional journals on educational issues and problems in the education and university environment. In his last decade of work at OU, he chiefly taught graduate classes and advised nearly 70 doctoral candi22 Feb 2005s in the completion of their dissertations/degrees.
