Sawyer PLAINVIEW - Roy L. Sawyer, 84, died Sunday, April 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Sawyer was born and raised in Little, Okla., and attended Little schools. He married Florence Carrell in 1941 at Norman, Okla. After their marriage, they lived in Apache, Okla., where he farmed and operated a grocery store. They moved to the Edmonson community in 1945 and farmed until 1956, when he retired and moved into Plainview. He operated a rural mail route from 1957 to 1967 and then began working with the city of Plainview in the Parks and Recreation Department. He retired in 1977. Mr. Sawyer was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and the Farm Bureau. While living in Edmonson he served as president of the Edmonson Co-op Gin. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sandy Sawyer of Plano, Carrell Ann Simmons of Denton and Judy Weatherford of Plainview; a son, Tom Sawyer of Austin; a brother, Ira Sawyer of Apache, Okla.; a sister, Edna Mae Noe of Anadarko, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Cleveland County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/cleveland/cleveland.html
