Services will be at 10 a.m. today at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist with the Rev. Calvin Brannon officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at the Garden of Gethsemane. Guardian Mayes Funeral Home in Norman is handling arrangements. Mr. Taylor was born May 12, 1966, in Norman, to Susan Nostrand and James R. Taylor. He attended Norman High School where he was first chair viola in the orchestra. He graduated in 1984. He married Terrie Moore Sept. 13, 1997, in Norman. He worked for Navigation Technologies until his death. He also was an accomplished chef with one of his namesake dishes listed as an entrée on a local restaurant’s menu. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, hiking in New Mexico and family vacations to North Padre Island and Port Aransas, Texas. He took great pleasure in spending time with his 2-year-old daughter Susan (Punkie) Taylor. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and DeMolay Masonic Youth programs in Oklahoma. He was assistant executive officer the Oklahoma DeMolay, past district governor of the Shawnee- Arapaho district, past president of the State Advisory Board, past Master Councilor and past State Dad. He received numerous honors from DeMolay International including the Guild of the Leather Apron Award, the Cross of Honor, the Legion of Honor and the Chevalier. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Col. Frank Burns, and paternal grandparents Fred G. and Lucille Taylor. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Terrie of the home; daughters Susan Katherine (Punkie) Taylor and Robin Latimer, both of the home, and Tricia Campbell and her children, Jordan and Devin; mother, Susan Nostrand and husband, Richard; father, James R. Taylor, wife, Betty, and daughter, Dawn; grandmother, Dorothy Burns and husband, Frank; sisters, Tammy Morris, husband, Daniel, and children, Christopher Wilhelm and Catherine Bittner, and Mandy Hall, husband Russell Hall, and children, Austin and Joshua Walker; brothers, Nathan Taylor and children, Matthew and Heather Taylor, and James R. Taylor II and son, James R. Taylor III; and aunts and uncles, Linda and Charles (Chuck) Angie and their children, Christopher and Amanda, Nancy and Doug Bovee and children, Kirsten Bovee and Katherine Blanc, Lois and Mike Clubb and children, Brian, Kelli, Jennifer and Jessi, Brent Burns, Dorothy Ann and Jerry Hominick and children, Aaron, Rachel and Tyler, Karl and Linda Burns and children, Sara, Blake, Eric and Laura, Fred and Carolyn G. Taylor Jr. and children, Ronald and Leann Taylor and children, Hudson N. and Hope G. Taylor and Jennifer and Robert Reeves and child, Taylor W. Reeves. Bearers will be Joseph Anderson, John Chronister, Brent Collins, Steven Orr, Bryan Stephens and Edward Sullivan. Honorary bearers will be Travis Gatewood, Joseph Box, Kyle Hartman, Christopher Angie and the members of Norman Masonic Lodge No. 38.
