All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Thompson, Lula Kate Lula Kate Thompson, 94, of Lexington, Oklahoma died Sunday, August 25, 2002 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman, Oklahoma with Reverend Frank Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery in Noble, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Mrs. Thompson was born October 7, 1907 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Marcus and Julia Watkins Harshberger. She moved to Oklahoma from Tennessee with her parents to Lexington, where she attended school. She married Tommie Curtis 'Buck' Thompson in 1926 and had five children. They raised their children in the Moore and Norman area. They moved back to Lexington in 1956, where she became involved in The Home Demonstration Club. Kate was also a member of Eastern Star, where she served as President for two terms. She was a Sunday School Teacher at the First Baptist Church of Lexington. She worked in the retail clothing business for over 20 years and was employed at Sharps Dry Goods in Norman. She loved her children and grandchildren, plus her many friends, that she held so dear. Kate was always caring for others and was a very selfless person. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommie C. 'Buck'; one daughter, Lahoma; two grandchildren, Teri Lyn Thompson and LoriAnn DeShazer and one son-in-law, Charlie Miller. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Thompson and wife, Vera of Oklahoma City, OK and Ken Thompson and wife, Barbara of McKenny, Texas; two daughters, Norma Jean Miller of Moore, Oklahoma and Beverly McEntire and husband, Calvin of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren, Billy Hill, Curtis Wayne Hill, Tommy Every, Todd Thompson, Linda Wiley, Ron Miller, Kelly Peterson, Toby Thompson, Misti Bradley and 19 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
