Thrailkill, daughter of the late William C. Martin and Grace Bodkin Martin, was born in Maud, OK, on March 23, 1915. Survived by children, Monte Joe Thrailkill and wife, Carolyn of Farmerville, LA, Jan Grant-Johnson and husband, Charles of Norman, OK, and T. Gary Thrailkill and wife, Joan of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Eddie Grant of Scottsdale AZ, Tyler Thrailkill and Brooke Thrailkill of Norman, OK, Kim Grobasch of Wisconsin, and Toni Jo McCarty of Monroe, LA; great grandchildren, Kyle Grant and McKenzie Grant, Hannah, Nathan, Emily, and Ezra Grobasch. She is also survived by her elder sister, Gladyce Young, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Tony Joe "Jiggs" Thrailkill; and grandsons, Monte Lee and Bubba Grant; sisters, Leta Davis and Opal Hilton Ables; and brother, Curtis Martin. Loving mother and grandmother, the matriarch of her family, she donned her wings and took flight to her heavenly home to join her childhood sweetheart "Jiggs" and her precious grandsons, Monte and Bubba. "Maggie" leaves her indomitable spirit in the hearts and memories of all those who were blessed enough to know her. Not only did she set the finest table, including her famous Cajun dishes, but also was a hairstylist with great success given her artistic abilities. She owned and operated two beauty salons in Norman from 1960 to 1994 when she became ill, The Magic Mirror and Maggie"s. Her creativity included ceramics and crocheting, wherein her family and friends were beneficiaries. She was an avid OU football fan and enjoyed travels to see her Sooners play as long as her health allowed her to do so. She loved her other travels to Las Vegas and her "luck" with slot machines was legendary. She even ventured into Fantasy Football the last years of her life. But her greatest role and love was her family and the strong beliefs she held in keeping the family circle vibrant, alive, and warm. Her spirit, her love, and her strength are traits she passed on to her family, and they sustain us all. Services will be held at Memorial Presbyterian, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norman under the direction of Mayes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norman, OK to be used in the care and well being of the elderly and ill.
