Lucian "Luke" Watkins Services: Mon., Jan. 28, 10 a.m. Services for Luke Watkins will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2002, at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. Luke was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Lexington, OK, and went to be with his Lord on January 24, 2002. After a long battle with liver disease and cancer, he passed away at his home in Bakersfield, with his wife, son, daughter, and close family members at his bedside. Luke brought his family to Bakersfield in 1947, where he began a career in the construction and real estate industry, and retired from Wally Tucker Datsun in 1984. During WWII, he served in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific as a Navy PBY crewman and bombardier. Luke was a 30 year member of The American Legion. He had been a member of the First Southern Baptist Church since 1947. Luke loved animals, chocolate, camping, fishing, hunting, and is best remembered for his love of sports, especially that of golf, golf, golf! Luke is survived by his wife Lou; son Ray; daughter Gail & her husband Tony Sparano, of Pismo Beach; grandson Joel & his wife Jackie; grandson Jerel, his wife Sherry, and great grandchildren Tanner Lucas & Shelby Lauren, of Las Vegas; step-daughter Leah & her husband Joe Heard and family, of Porterville; step-daughter Mary & her husband Richard Gillette and family, of Porterville; brothers Oral Watkins of Arizona, & Oris Watkins of Oklahoma; and sisters Gwen Cline & Mildred Talley of Texas. Luke was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie. We love you, and will miss you, Luke. Youll forever be in our hearts, til we meet again.
