(Tulsa, Indian Terr.), Vol. 7, No. 11, Ed. 1 Friday, September 29, 1911 ASSISTANT ATTORNEY TO WED. Earl Sneed Will Marry Miss Johnson on October 11 Announcement has been made of the forthcoming marriage of Earl Sneed, former newspaper man and now assistant city attorney of Tulsa, to Miss Nellie Francis Johnson, of Norman. The wedding will take place at the home of the bride, October 11, and Lawrence Bentley, private secretary of Mayor L.J. Martin, will accompany Mr. Sneed. The romance which culminates in the wedding announcement was begun at Norman two years ago, when Mr. Sneed and Miss Johnson were both students at Oklahoma State University. Both were well liked students at the college and prominent Greek Letter fraternity members. Rev. A. Grant Evans, former president of Oklahoma State University will officiate at the wedding and the couple will make their permanent home in Tulsa, where Mr. Sneed will continue his duties as assistant municipal counsellor. Editorially the Oklahoma City Times says: "Six years ago there walked into the Democrat in Tulsa, Okla., a boy of unprepossessing appearance, without education and scarcely knowing how to operate a typewriter. He asked for a job as reporter, and simply because of his insistence, his natural intelligence and especially his energy and manly bearing he was taken on as "the cub". He worked night and day, and soon was recognized as the greatest news gatherer on the paper. He studied, listened to advice, was ambitious and kept everlastingly on the job. "After about a year he quit work and went to Valparaiso, Ind., and attended the normal school for ten months. In less than a week after school was out, he was back on the newspaper job, and with as much energy, more skill and the same fidelity to duty. He soon became the pride of the paper. "Soon thereafter he matriculated in Norman, at the University, and taking a law course as well as additional literary work, he came out about a year ago with a license to practice law in Oklahoma. Coming to Oklahoma City he entered one of the best law firms in the city, where he made good in the work assigned. "Announcement is made now that this young man is to wed one of the finest girls, from one of the wealthiest families in Norman, and they are to reside in Tulsa. Thus is told the story of an honest, ambitious boy's preparations for the responsibilities of life - in which he will make good. His name is Earl Sneed. He was reared in Lawton and is an Oklahoma product. ========= Tulsa Daily World.
