All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== WILLIAM LOFTUS JARVIS William Loftus Jarvis was son of Jesse Jarvis and Sarah Werniger of Jarvisville, Tenmile district, Harrison county, Virginia (now West Virginia) born 30 July 1843, married twice, six known children with first wife, died 4 December 1910 in Centrahoma, Bryan township, Coal county, Oklahoma, interned in Centrahoma cemetery. http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=califia1&id=I6164 He was first married to Mary Martha Stout, daughter of James Martin Stout and Celia Bassel on 3 September 1867 in West Virginia having six known children. She reportedly, passed away in 1887. He then remarried to Virginia born, Henriette Jane Wood in 1890 with no known children from this union. William is found on 1870 Federal census, Elk district, Harrison county, West Virginia, age 26, a farmer, married with one child, in 1880 Federal census of Clark district, Harrison county, West Virginia, age 35, a farmer with four of his six known children. His wife reportedly died 1887 and a 1923 published biography of his youngest known son. Benjamin Bassel Jarvis, has Benjamin at Vernon, Wilbarger county, Texas (county organized 1881) for about three years starting 1887/8, with the 1900 Federal census of that place having William, age 56, a carpenter, married to second wife Henriette. (Son Benjamin is found on 1900 Federal census of Elk district, Harrison county, West Virginia, noted a student in household of his eldest sister Celia T (Jarvis) Pickens, along with a sister Doctor Louise Jarvis and Celia's three known children). The 1910 Federal census has William and Henriette, he age 66, a building contractor in Bryan township, Coal county, Oklahoma. Centrahoma cemetery has a William Jarvis buried, giving dates; "birth, 30 July 1843, death, 4 December 1910". His second wife, Henriette died 2 January 1928 in Claremore, Rogers county, Oklahoma and is buried at Park cemetery, Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri.            UNKNOWN:         ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1)- Date and location of first wife's, Mary Martha, death and burial. (possibly (?) in Vernon, Wilbarger county, Texas). and 2)- Location of his second marriage. No record of it in Jasper County, Missouri courthouse and it is not found in West Virginia vital record site.
