Aust Funeral for James W. Aust, 81, Lawton, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Randy Scraper, pastor, First United Methodist Church, Duncan, officiating. Mr. Aust died on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at a local retirement center. Entombment will be at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born on Jan. 30, 1921, in Lawton to Ernest E. Aust Sr. and Winfrey Chappell Aust. He married Juanita Hedgecoxe on Oct. 11, 1942, in Lawton. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1938 and was president of his senior class. He attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He then attended Hill’s Business College in Oklahoma City. He was a businessman in Lawton for many years, where he opened the first coin-operated laundry in Lawton and the first radio- dispatched taxi company. He was in other businesses; most recently he owned and operated a finance and loan company in Lawton. He retired in 1981. He served in the Army during World War II for three years and was honorably discharged in 1945. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Donna Jo Littlefield, Lawton; a grandchild, Austin Wayne Littlefield, Dallas, Texas; two brothers: Ernest Aust Jr. and wife Peggy; and Donald Aust and wife Jeannine, all of Lawton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Helen Marie Cole Brown and Catherine Cox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Lawton Area, P.O.
