Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church in Marlow with the Rev. Joe Ligon officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home. Mrs. Alpers was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Wichita Falls to Leslie Leo and Elizabeth Virginia Adcock Gibbons. She married Curtis L. Alpers on April 25, 1969, in Lawton. Mrs. Alpers lived in the Marlow area for the past 35 years and prior to that in Wichita Falls. She was a sales person for Home Interiors and Gifts. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, arranging flowers, home decorating and politics. She loved animals. Survivors include her husband, Curtis, of the home; three sons, Stephen Sternadel of Lawton, Alan Sternadel and his wife, Janice, of Duncan, and Todd Alpers and his wife, Lee Ann, of Broken Arrow; three daughters, Debbie Willis, and her husband, Kenny, Shirley Waldo and James Douthit, all of Marlow, and Leslie Obel and her husband, Klaus, of California; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth Gibbons and Dafford and Mary Gambill, all of Wichita Falls; a sister, Mary Lyons of Magnolia, Ark.; two brothers-in-law, Joe Alpers of Dallas, and Bernard Alpers of Davis; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Orlu Gambill; a sister, Faye Pittman; and a grandchild, Tiffany Sternadel. Bearers will be Earl Harris, Ed Harris, Terry Brown, Ray Miller, Jackie Waldo and Stewart Prestridge. Honorary bearers are Russell Willis, Jarrod Willis, Addam Willis, Andrew Waldo, A.J. Sternadel, Lee Rowe and Patrick Obel.
