Alltizer Funeral for Edna J. Alltizer, 94, Lawton, is pending with Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. Mrs. Alltizer died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at her home. ========= Lawton Constitution 22 Nov 2003 Edna Jane Alltizer Memorial service for Edna Jane Alltizer, 94, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Antwine officiating. Mrs. Alltizer died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at her home near Lake Lawtonka. She was born Dec. 13, 1908, northwest of Indiahoma, to James D. and Mary Catherine Mullin Spiva. She grew up in the Indiahoma and Snyder area, and graduated from Snyder High School in 1927. After high school, she attended Southwestern State University from 1927-1930. She taught school at Indiahoma for nine years, and Headrick School for one year. She returned to school to complete her bachelor of social sciences degree from Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha in 1951. After graduating from college, she taught school at Woodrow Wilson Elementary for 19 years and Sullivan Village Elementary for one year. She retired with 30 years of teaching. She married Sparrell "Hawk" Alltizer on March 31, 1933, in Duncan. He died Aug. 20, 1971. She was a lifetime member of Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, Kappa Kappa Iota, American Association of University for Women, Medicine Park Senior Citizens Center, Meers and Mt. Scott Community Center, Workers and Travelers Club of Paradise Valley and Eastern Star. She was also a 55-year member of Home Community Education Extension Services at Meers and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James Charles and Vicki Alltizer, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and James McCracken, Lawton; 11 grandchildren: Misty A. Neal, Cristina J. Stamps and her husband, Kyle, Ann J. Alltizer, and Allison Alltizer, all of Lawton, Andrew J. Alltizer and wife Chenoa, Washington D.C.; James "Jay" Ray Alltizer, San Francisco; Baylor McCracken, Cache; and Eric Johnson, Ada; seven great-grandchildren: Sara Holmes, Shannon and Kevin Bernard, Conn.; Cole Stamps and Cameron Stamps and Luke Alltizer-McClure, all of Lawton; and Nicholas Neal, Kilgore Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Ina Cranfill and Iva Ferguson; and a granddaughter, Tamara Barnard.
