Mr. Beckwith died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at his home. ========= Lawton Constituion 12 Aug 2003 Horace Beckwith Funeral for retired Sgt. 1st Class Horace Beckwith, 86, Duncan, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Capt. Ricky A. Way and Chaplain Irven Johnson, Hospice of Lawton Area, officiating. Sgt. Beckwith died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at his home. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born June 22, 1917, in Arkansas, to James Clyde and Lou Ella Beckwith. He joined the Army, and served during World War II and the Korean War. He married Ernestine Andrews in 1954. She died in February 1990. While stationed at Fort Sill, he worked as a security guard at the Ammunition Depot. He married Norma Walker in Duncan on Oct. 12, 1991. He was a member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James Lee and Linda Beckwith, Duncan; a stepson, Lloyd and Becky Brooks, Marlow; eight grandchildren: Krysta Dawn Beckwith, Millington, Tenn.; James Leath Beckwith, Antioch, Tenn.; Paula Harless, Ratliff City; Joe Hopkins, Duncan; Hank Hopkins, Ratliff City; and Jessie, Sara and Mandy Brooks, all of Marlow; 11 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose; and two nieces: Ella Mae and Mary Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Beckwith. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1305 W. Gore, Suite A, Lawton 73501.
