Buckner Jr. Funeral for Charles W. Buckner Jr., 55, Lawton, is pending with Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. Mr. Buckner died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at a local hospital. ========= Lawton Constituion 11 Aug 2003 Charles W. Buckner, Jr. Funeral for Charles W. Buckner, Jr., 55, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Ashlock, pastor, First Christian Church, officiating. Mr. Buckner died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 26, 1948, in Port Huenene, Calif., to Charles W. Buckner and Helen Underwood Blevins. He was raised in Kentucky, West Virginia, and later moved to Ohio where he graduated from Hamilton Garfield High school in 1966. He worked for Carter's Restaurant and Kentucky Fried Chicken. He attended college at Miami University and Ohio State University. He came to Lawton in 1974. He worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken on Sheridan Rd. for nine years. He also worked for 7-Eleven, Jiffy Foods, Fina Corporation, and Champlian Corporation. At the age of 40 he went to vocational school to pursue a career in nursing. He worked as a home healthcare provider for the Department of Human Services. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for eight years, and had been a member of First Christian Church for three years. Survivors include two sisters: Melody B. Blevins White, Lawton; and Reba Halbrooks, Wichita, Kan.; a nephew, Wayne White; and a niece, Melissa White, both of Lawton; an aunt, Helen Underwood, Lawton; five nieces and nephews; four great-nephews, and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Helen Loretta Tribbey.
