All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +========================================================================+ Sherry Lynn Littlefield Blankenship, 60, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 16 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Norman, Oklahoma with The Reverend Canon David A. Egbert officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Oklahoma Pallbearers are David Cockrell, J. Hugh Herndon, Jack Durrett, II., Ted Pool, James Cook and Mike Crawford. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Blankenship was born November 18, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Cloyce and Oleta Littlefield. She attended public school in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1959. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Oklahoma State University, after which she taught school in Lawton and Hobbs, New Mexico. She then received a Masters and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma University. She then taught at Oklahoma University and at the United States Postal Training Center in Norman. She received a Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University and taught legal courses at the University of Oklahoma College of Business and was Assistant Oklahoma County District Attorney before practicing law at the firm of Pool, Blankenship and Vincent. She was well respected by her peers in the complex area of civil rights litigation, municipal higher education and governmental law. She was the City attorney for the City of Mustang and will be greatly missed by her law partners, Ted Pool and her legal assistant, Kim Wood, for whom Sherry served no only as her boss but as her best friend and mentor. Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the Oklahoma and American Bar Association.Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of thirty three years, Tom Blankenship; a daughter, Jennifer Nickolson and husband, Matt, of Dallas, Texas; three sons, Geoff Nolte and wife, Darlene, of Miami, Oklahoma, Paul Blankenship of Norman, Oklahoma, and Russell Alan Blankenship and wife, Sherry, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her brother, Dr. Wayne Littlefield and wife, Shirlene, of Lawton, OK; and four grandchildren.
