Funeral for retired Master Sgt. Rudolph F. Bembrey, 70, Lawton, is pending with Jefferson Funeral Home Inc. Master Sgt. Bembrey died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at a local hospital. ========= Lawton Constitution 7 Jan 2003 Bembrey, Rudolph Funeral for retired Master Sgt. Rudolph F. Bembrey, 70, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grant Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Roger Alford, pastor, officiating. Kadosh service will be from 7-8 p.m. today at Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Master Sgt. Bembrey died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born March 19, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Benjamin and Leola Bembry. He was raised in Norfolk, Va., by his aunt, Mrs. Queenie Skinner. He attended school to the 11th grade in Norfolk, and obtained his GED while serving in the Army. He also attended Radar School and Great Plains Vocational-Technical School for carpentry and cabinet-making classes. He joined the Army in 1952, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received several military meritorious awards, commendations and ribbons for the performance of duty and service. He obtained the rank of master sergeant, and retired after 27 years of service. He married Annie Louise River on Feb. 24, 1953, in Douglas, Ga. He attended the AME church of Norfolk. He moved to Lawton in 1959, and joined Grant Chapel AME Church in 1961. He was Sunday School superintendent and teacher, a trustee, president of the Laymen's Organization, member of the Sons of Allen, and served as president-pro-tem of the steward board until he was unable to serve. He was a member of Mistletoe Lodge No. 31, Golden Limit Consistory No. 133; Menes Shrine Temple No. 32 and a 33rd-degree Master Mason. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law: Cynthia and Ben Bridges, Long Island, N.Y.; and Judi Macintosh, Lawton; six grandchildren: Sonia Anderson and Rudy F. Bridges, both of Coppers Grove, Texas; Angela Smith, Atlanta; and Percy Marshal, Jhanta Yarbrough and Jeremy Yarbrough, all of Lawton; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
