All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Highland Cemetery--Lawton OK Lawton Constitution 3 Mar 2005 Bessie Mae Brooks Funeral for Bessie Mae Brooks, 99, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Johnson, district moderator, officiating. Mrs. Brooks died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at her home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 5, 1905, in Coosa County, Ala., to Milton and Lillie Lyles. She received her education in Coosa County. She married Booker T. Brooks in 1921 and she was a homemaker. She came to Lawton from Columbus, Ga. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church of Grandfield. Survivors include three children: Leverl Bostick, Cleveland, Ohio; the Rev. Sherrell Brooks and his wife, Mattie Kate, and Mary M. Brooks, all of Lawton; a sister, Lurlene Lyles, Bellflower, Calif.; a brother, Stanley V. Lyles, Los Angeles; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
