All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Eugene Register Guard 30 May 2004 Matthew Broughton A celebration of life will be held June 12 for Matthew Lorne Broughton of Liberty Lake, Wash., formerly of Creswell, who died May 18 from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 32. Broughton was born Sept. 9, 1971, in Fort Sill, Okla., to Larry and Barbara Myers Broughton. He was active in cross country and ROTC at Leavenworth High School in Kansas before graduating in 1989. He received a bachelor's degree in zoology from Emporia State University in Kansas, where he was an active member and events coordinator with Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army upon graduation. He served three years of active duty as an airborne qualified air defense officer and completed a tour in Korea. He was discharged in 1996. He worked as a manager with Airborne Express in Seattle and later as a specialty sales representative with Pfizer Pharmaceutical in Spokane. He completed the Seattle Marathon in 1997. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed paragliding, scuba diving, hiking and beach excursions. He especially enjoyed his dog, Molly. Survivors include his parents of Creswell; and a brother, Corey of Oregon City. The celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. June 12 at the Creswell Presbyterian Church. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, is in charge of arrangements.
