Funeral for Robert E. Bryson, 91, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church Memorial Chapel with William F. Watkins, associate pastor, officiating. Mr. Bryson died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at a local retirement center. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Webb City, Mo., and grew up in Joplin, Mo. He came to Lawton in 1935, and served in the Army at Fort Sill. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He married Lucille V. Karraker on Oct. 3, 1937, in Lawton. She died July 19, 1994. He married Maude Bruner in March 2000, and she died in May 2001. He married Evelyn Nichols Hamilton on March 31, 2002, in Lawton. He retired from civil service in 1970 after at least 25 years of service. He worked at Fort Sill in finance and accounting, and at one time was comptroller at Fort Wainright in Fairbanks, Alaska. He served in World War II and Korea. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and before that was music minister at Calvary Baptist Church for 11 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd-degree Mason. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law: Joy and Vernon Howeth, Cache; and Charla Bryson, Dallas; a brother, Everrett Bryson, Joplin, Mo.; and two grandchildren: Mitchel Metcalf, Lawton; and Rayla Roskam and her husband, Kevin, Arlington, Texas.
