Mrs. Barnes died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in Amarillo, Texas. ========= Lawton Constituion 12 Aug 2003 Anita Barnes Funeral for former Lawton resident Anita Barnes, 90, Amarillo, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. today at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Maj. Matthew Goff officiating. Mrs. Barnes died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in Amarillo. Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. She was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Germany, and came to the United States in 1955. She married Billy J. Barnes on March 13, 1955, in Ansbach, Germany. He died Sept. 20, 2000. She was a volunteer throughout her life at hospitals, the Red Cross and communication services for the Army. She was a member of the German-American Club, and served as president of the NCO Club in Okinawa in the 1960s. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Van Miller, Dumas, Texas; three granddaughters and their spouses: Frances and Dale Widmayer, Lampasas, Texas; Annette and John Gutierrez, Amarillo, Texas; and Debbie and Jimmy Stewart, Fulton, Texas; a grandson, Michael Haedike, Tipton, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren; six great- great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Dittman, Stuttgart, Germany. She was preceded in death by a son, Willy A. Haedike.
