All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 11 Aug 2002 John Cook Memorial service for John Cook, 69, of Lawton, who died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Lawton Citadel Corps with Captain Vic Tidman, commanding officer, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Sill's Post Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. Mr. Cook was born April 6, 1933, in Centralia, Ill., to James Edward and Jessie Alton Cook. He married Diane Ruth Ice on January 21, 1955, in Selma, Calif. A recipient of the Bronze Star, Cook served in the U.S. Army with tours throughout the United States, Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. He retired in 1972 with 22 years service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1192, the DAV and the Salvation Army Lawton Citadel Corps. He is survived by his wife of the home; seven sons, Colonel of Illinois, John II and his wife Patti of Missouri, Robert of Indiana, Raymond of Oklahoma City, Bruce and his wife Angela of Virginia, Terry and his wife Amy Dawn of Oklahoma City and Michael of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren: Robert Sean and his wife Eden of Stillwater, Desiree of Indiana, Jedediah and Keziah of Duncan, Colonel and Jessica of Sparks, Nev., Nicholas and Natasha, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Allison of Ardmore; five sisters: Pearl, Helen, Doris, Grac, and Zelda; one brother, Harry Jo; and many nieces and nephews.
