Cox Funeral service for retired Master Sgt. Clinton M. Cox, 84, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel. Sgt. Cox died Saturday, June 25, 2005, in Lawton. Burial will be at Post Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Edna, Texas, to George M. and Mary L. Dampier Cox. He was a veteran of World War II and Vietnam. He won the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in World War II. He retired from the Army in 1969. He married Nora Beth Peoples in 1947 in Conroe, Texas. They were divorced in 1969. Survivors include two daughters: Judith A. Polinsky and her husband, Charles, New Derry, Pa.; and Deborah Burney, Stillwater; one sister: Sophia Novikoff, Santa Rosa, Calif.; eight grandchildren: Christopher Cassidy, Corey Church, Cole Burney, Kristen Tilton, Zachary Cox, Brian Polinsky, Stacey Sanders and Sean Cox; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Clinton M. Cox and Gary W.
