Mrs. Cox died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at a local nursing center. ======== Lawton Constitution 3 Dec 2003 Thelma Bernice Nottingham Cox Funeral for Thelma Bernice Nottingham Cox, 94, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New Life Assembly of God with the Rev. Lyndell Warren, Oklahoma Assembly of God Missions/Men’s Director, the Rev. David McCracken and the Rev. Betty Ayers officiating. Mrs. Cox died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Cache Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. She was born Nov. 9, 1909, in Indiahoma, to Viola V. Christian Nottingham and Edward B. Nottingham. She attended local schools and earned a teaching certificate from Central Oklahoma Teachers College at Edmond. She taught third, fourth and fifth grades at Cache School. She married Maurice B. Cox on Oct. 13, 1934, in Cache. He died Sept. 27, 1992. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church, and worked with various Assembly churches in Stillwater, Guthrie, Cherokee, Cache and Akron, Colo. She worked in home missions with the Navajo tribe in Kayenta, Ariz.; the Otoe Tribe in Red Rock and Longdale; and the Comanche Tribe and the Kiowa Tribe in Cache. She was founding pastor of the All-tribes Assembly of God. She conducted more than 40 Vacation Bible Schools during her lifetime. She was also a member of the Cache-Indiahoma Ministerial Alliance and other religious organizations. She was a painter and poet. Survivors include a son, Paul Cox and is wife, Margo Schueler, Berkeley, Calif.; nine grandchildren and spouses: Dale and Linda Cox, Aurora, Colo.; Denise and Sam McCullough, Steven and Cyndi Cox and Charlotte Cox, all of Tulsa; Greg and Mary Cox, Fountain Inn, S.C.; Charlie and Gloria Cox, Ashdown, Ark.; Carrie and Les Rymer, Wellington; and Emma and Rosa Cox, Berkeley, both of Calif.; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons: Blair Dean and George Edward Cox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cache-Indiahoma Ministerial Alliance, P.O.
