Mrs. Cox died Thursday July 31, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. ========= Lawton Constituion 2 Aug 2003 Dorothy Ellen Sanmann Cox GERONIMO -- Funeral for Dorothy Ellen Sanmann Cox, 79, Geronimo, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Geronimo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Herschel R. Lindsey, retired Baptist minister, Lawton, and the Rev. Eddie Coast, Geronimo, officiating. Mrs. Cox died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at Flower Mound Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Geronimo, to Charles Edward and Janie Rebecca Fields Sanmann. She was a lifelong resident of the Geronimo area. She married William Lee 'Bill' Cox on Aug. 20, 1942, in Lawton. She worked as a Union cashier for Humpty Dumpty and Piggly Wiggly stores and Safeway Grocery store in Durant. She retired as a bookkeeper from Ford Roofing. She taught at New Hope School, and owned and operated the Snack Bar at Sooner Lanes. Survivors include her husband; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Danny and Felecia Cox, and William Ray Cox, all of Lawton; and Dr. Michael and Rosemary Cox, Columbus, Ohio; a granddaughter, D'esirae Lee Schneider and her husband Rodney, Lawton; a daughter and son-in- law, Dorothy Lee 'Duffy' and Robert Dunnigan, Texas; two sisters: Edith Kelley and Vera Nichols; two brothers: Edward Sanmann and the Rev. Wayne Sanmann; extended family: Rose, Rocky and Sara Dawn White, Denny and Laurel Baker and Herman and Barbara Schneider; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth West; a granddaughter, Renee Doty, and a great-grandson, Tony Doty. Memorial contributions may be made to Geronimo First Baptist Church.
