Mr. Choat died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. ========= Lawton Constitution 18 Jun 2003 Ronnie Choat Funeral for Ronnie Choat, 67, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lawton First Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Barnes, pastor, officiating. Mr. Choat died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Cache Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born June 18, 1935, in Lawton, to Loyd and Minnie Choat. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1955. He served six years as a sergeant in the Army National Guard with the 45th Division. He worked as a salesman for 7UP from 1955 to 1957. He worked for Lawton Trailer Manufacturing Co. from 1957 to 1960. He became a pawn broker in 1960, and owned Ronnie's Pawn Shop in Lawton until his death. He worked with the YES Program as an area representative, and beginning in 1983, he hosted exchange students for 15 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Louise Choat, of the home; a son, Mark Choat, of the home; a daughter Ranae Phillips and husband, Robert, Lawton; a sister Retha Crisp and husband, John, Colleyville, Texas; two grandchildren: Asa Terrill, and Toni Phillips, both of Lawton; three step-grandchildren: Aaron Phillips, Kevin Phillips, and Joshua Phillips all of Irving, Texas; two sisters-in-law and their husbands: Kathy and Greg McCracken, Oklahoma City; and Jeanne and Richard Silva, Midlothian, Va.; two uncles: Johnny Choat, and wife, Evelyn, and Willie Shrum, all of Lawton; and many nieces and nephews.
