All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Becker Funeral Home Obit Raymond Dale Catlin Age 73, Lawton - Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7002 SW Drakestone Blvd., Lawton, with the Bishop W. Mathew Kappel officiating. Mr. Catlin died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in Lawton. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born on March 29, 1932, in Mosca, Colorado, to Earl Jennings and Ethel Frazier Catlin. He attended school in Alamosa, Colorado, and also attended the Catholic Abbey School in Canyon City, Colorado. He married Dora Mae DeGolyer on September 2, 1950, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They moved to Lawton in 1950. He joined the Lawton fire department in January 1955. While he was with the fire department he obtained the ranks of driver, lieutenant, and fire marshall. He was fire marshall from 1969 until 1976 when he retired. In 1976 he served as president of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association, he also served on the Executive Board to the Oklahoma Retired Firefighters Association from 1982-1987. After his retirement from the fire department he worked for Bill Story Fire & Safety as a salesman. He then worked at Goodyear as a security coordinator from 1979 to 1989. Mr. Catlin worked in a variety of part-time jobs to include Currell Lumber, Southwest Salvage, Kirk's Wrecker, Mid-West Furniture, and Green Lawn Ambulance. In the 1980s, he owned and operated Grumpy Granny's Arcade and operated the East Gore Car Wash. Mr. Catlin was involved in many organizations with the youth including coaching football and baseball at Robert E. Lee Elementary. He also chartered the Boy Scouts of America for the Latter Day Saints troop. He was a past volunteer at the Southwestern Hospital gift shop. He enjoyed fishing, horses, and watch sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Catlin was very active in the church and held numerous positions in the church. He is survived by his loving wife Dora Mae, one daughter and son in- law Steve and Catherine McVey of Phoenix, Arizona, two sons and daughter-in-laws Rick and Shirley Carson Catlin of Lawton and Mike and Donna Catlin of Lawton, seven grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America; 1325 W.
