Maj. Clarence Clark Jr., Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Hope Church of God in Christ with Wadie Brown officiating. An Omega service will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Funeral Home Inc., Lawton. Command Sgt. Maj. Clark died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at his home. Burial with military honors will be in Post Cemetery. He was born in Washington D.C. to Clarence and Elisha Clark. He graduated from Douglass High School in Maryland. He received an associate degree in science from a university in New York. He entered the U.S. Army in 1961 and served 27 years before honorably retiring in 1988. Military awards he received include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, (9th award), Army Achievement Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Presidential Unit Citation (Army), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (1), Bronze Star Medal, Overseas Service Bars (2), Driver and Mechanic Badge (W), Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and Expert Qualification Badge (M-16). He came to Lawton in 1967 from Korea. He married Frances Edison in May 1967 in Lawton. He received a bachelor of science degree from Cameron University. He was a member of Bethel Church of God in Christ, and a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Lawton; two sons and daughters-in-law: the Rev. H.H. and Eddie Edison, and Rundell and Eunice Edison, all of Lawton; a brother, Robert Clark, Baltimore; a sister, Jessie Faxton, Baltimore; and seven grandchildren.
