Funeral for Willie J. Carson, 72, Lawton, is pending with Jefferson Funeral Home. Mr. Carson died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, in a local care center. ========= Lawton Constitution 31 Oct 2002 Carson Jr, Willie James Funeral for Willie James Carson, Jr., 72, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelvin Paige, pastor, New Zion Baptist Church, Lawton, officiating. Mr. Carson died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at a local care center. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Lawton. He was born Feb. 4, 1930, to Willie James and Lucille Sneed Carson at Lockart, Texas. He married Erma Jean Carson on Jan. 11, 1963 in Cameron, Texas. After moving to Lawton in 1977, he worked in maintenance at Goodwill Industries for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, of the home; seven sons: Willie James III, Timothy and Richard, all of Lawton; Troy, Ponca City; Michael, Woodward; and Jerry and Larry, both of Ballinger, Texas; eight daughters: Reta and Carolyn Carson and Doretha Williams, all of Lawton; Sandra Carson, Dallas; Martha Carson, Ballinger, Texas; Wanda Bowens, Texas City; Texas, Marcella Carson and Charlotte Sheppard, both of Temple, Texas; a brother, Connie Mack Carson, Ballinger; five sisters: Ora Lee Brown, Lubbock, Texas; Kathy Powell and Alberta Wesley, both of Fort Worth, Texas; Beauty Mae McNally, San Angelo, Texas; and Joyce Ogene Brown, St. Louis, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
